When Sam and Dean arrive at the LaCroix manor to on behalf of Bobby to pay their respects to Bunny LaCroix who had just passed away, they're introduced to Amber through Heddy. She introduces Amber as Stanton's—Bunny's youngest brother—"child bride" in reference to the age difference between the couple.

As she's playing pool with her husband after Bunny's funeral, Amber asks Phillip where the maid Colette is. Phillip announces to everyone that Colette had went to clown college in Sarasota to get away from the reminders of Bunny.

That night, in their bedroom, Stanton accuses Amber of cheating on him. He tells her that Beverley had seen her sexting at dinner. Amber defends herself by telling him she was texting her mother. Stanton displays disbelief because there had been a message with an emoticon of a peeled banana. Amber fires back that her mother likes fruit and tells him that he's drunk and paranoid. Amber compares Stanton to Bunny's late husband Lance whom she says was always accusing Bunny of cheating. When Stanton calls his sister a "two-bit hooker in Chanel", Amber goes to the en-suite bathroom, disgusted with him talking ill of his dead sister.

A few minutes later, when she leaves the bathroom, Amber witnesses Stanton being decapitated by Lance, despite the fact that Lance was supposed to be dead.

Heddy immediately accuses Amber of being guilty of Stanton's murder, though Dash—Bunny's great-nephew—defends Amber. Sam asks Dash why he's so adamant that Amber is innocent, and Dash explains that he doesn't believe she's guilty of murder because of her trouble with basic things like using Wi-Fi.

While Dean is searching the mansion for any sign of shapeshifter activity, he hears a sound coming from a closet. When he opens it, he finds Amber making out with Dash. Dash then explains that he and Amber had gotten bored at the New Canaan clambake when they'd been in line at the buffet. They go on to insist that they're guilty of cheating, but not the murder of Stanton.

After Dean tests them with silver and promises to keep the secret of their affair, they return to the living room. Then, a scream is heard. Olivia has found Detective Howard drowned in the toilet. Heddy instantly points fingers at Amber, explaining that Amber has motive—not wanting Detective Howard to discover that she killed Stanton. To clear up everyone's suspicions of her guilt, Amber confesses that Dash is her alibi since they've been sleeping together.

When Amber questions why Sam and Dean would want members of the LaCroix family dead, Dash suggests—as he's waving the revolver around recklessly—that Sam and Dean had wanted their inheritance and were unsatisfied with "whatever aunt Bunny left them". Heddy and Amber persuade Dash to put the gun down.

When Olivia enters the room, confesses to the murders, grabs the gun, and announces that she's Bunny's secret shapeshifter child, Amber cowers behind Dash.
