Barbie and Ken

Barbie is a fashion doll created by Mattel and first introduced in 1959, she has many iterations, jobs and outfits. Barbie's boyfriend is named Ken. They both have been referenced several times in Supernatural.

A range of Barbie dollhouses are known as Dreamhouses, the latest one released at the time of this episode's filming was known as the Malibu Dreamhouse.

Dean: Ok, but this Malibu Dream Mansion that he makes for you to take away is this post-apocalyptic mess?

Brandon insults Sam, Dean and Bobby Singer by remarking on their appearances, he compares Dean to Ken.

Brandon: Sidewinder soup and salad combo goes to Big Bird. TDK Slammer to Ken Doll. And a little Heart Smart for Creepy Uncle.

Cindy Cassity compares Sam to Ken when he pours wine for her and her family.

Dean compares Kate the werewolf to a Barbie.

Sam: We got a problem.

12.11 Regarding Dean

One of the spells that can lead to loss of memory also leads to loss of genitalia making them look like a Ken doll.

Sam: I don’t know. Uh, and I'm not checking either.

Alex: It’s a uniform, what’s your excuse?
Claire: I look great.

• In 4.17 It's a Terrible Life, the opening montage and the character of Dean Smith may be inspired by Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, including how he dresses. However, there is a striking resemblance between Dean Smith's first outfit and the 1991 Ken Business Man doll's outfit.
