Detective Madsen is in charge of investigating the murder of Mrs. Kemper at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast. While dealing with the crime scene, Madsen identifies the man that Dean saw hanging around outside as a man that he went to high school with named Len Fletcher and tells Sam and Dean that he is harmless and obsessed with ghosts.

Sam later meets up with Detective Madsen outside the Pinsky residence, where another axe murder has happened.

11.06 Our Little World

Detective Madsen calls Sam to tell him that Len has been killed. When Sam and Dean arrive to the police station to see the body, Detective Madsen tells them he thought one of the victims' family committed the murder, but is unconvinced as the killing didn't feel like revenge, but rather looked too clean like an assassination. Madsen briefly gets called away and, while he is gone, Sam and Dean notice an unruly teenager. When Madsen returns, they ask who the girl was and he tells them her name is Goldie Schmidtlapp—a girl who had suddenly went crazy and tried to kill her mother with a frying pan.
