Episodes

11.07 Plush

When Sheriff Donna Hanscum asks for the Winchesters' help on a case, they meet her colleague, Officer Doug Stover, who is the lead on the case. Dean wonders if there's some attraction between her and Doug, who bears the same name as her ex-husband, but she denies it. Donna and Doug are preparing to transport the tranquilized man, Mike Hooks, in the bunny head, to the hospital to get the mask cut off. When Doug offers to help lift him into the car, Donna takes insult to the implication that she'd need Doug's help. She tries to do it herself, but Mike’s way heavier than he looks and she falls. Doug then tries to help her to lift him, but before they can get him up her phone rings. She turns to take the call from Dean, and while they're distracted, Mike stands up behind them. Doug notices the movement, but before they can do anything, Mike shoves Donna aside and hits Doug. He then turns and throws the wheelchair aside and pushes Donna to the ground. He picks up her nightstick and is about to attack her but Doug shoots him, killing him. As soon as Mike dies, the bunny head falls off.

Later Doug helps Donna go around town to collect all the costumes that may be possessed. Officer Doug approaches her and Donna apologizes for the recent way she’s treated him. Doug says he understands, and that everyone has baggage. He offers to let her call him by his middle name, Lonnie, but she says Doug is just fine.

13.11 Breakdown

When Donna's niece, Wendy, goes missing in Oshkosh, Nebraska, Doug accompanies her to see Wendy's car which had been picked up after having been abandoned at the side of the road with signs of a struggle. Doug is talking to the local officers when Dean walks into the warehouse to look at Wendy's car. When Doug sees Agent Clegg, the FBI agent assigned to the case, being aggressive and suspicious of Dean—whom Doug still believes is FBI Agent Savage—he goes over to defuse the situation and introduce the men to each other. Surprised to hear "Agent Savage" tell Agent Clegg that Wendy is his cousin, Doug takes a moment when Agent Clegg is out of earshot to express this surprise to "Agent Savage". He asks if he, too, was at the family reunion in Sioux Falls a couple of weeks ago, and "Agent Savage" confirms that he was. They then follow Agent Clegg into an office.

Joined by Sam—whom Doug knows as "Agent Elliot"—and Donna, Doug, "Agent Savage", and Agent Clegg stand around a table with a map on it. Agent Clegg fills them all in on the information he has so far. He explains that state troopers got an anonymous tip on where Wendy's car was found and goes on to tell them that he believes Wendy's disappearance is the work of a serial abductor known as "The Butterfly". He then goes on to tell them that they're free to help with the investigation, since he's been working on it for 12 years.

The next night, Dean asks Doug to meet him at Manny's Truck Stop Cafe—where Wendy was last seen. Doug brings him a folder of information on every crime that has happed at the truck stop recently. He explains that there's been nothing more sinister than a "couple of D&Ds" and "four counts of public urination". As Dean is perusing the file, Doug asks if Donna is going to be ok, adding that he's never seen her so worried, and she seems more closed-off and secretive than usual. Dean assures Doug that Donna will be ok with Doug's support and trust.

A little while later, Doug follows Dean inside Manny's Truck Stop Cafe and watches as Dean interrogates the cashier, Marlon, quite aggressively about Wendy's whereabouts. When Marlon agrees to show them information on where Wendy is, Doug goes over to turn the "closed" sign on at the door. Marlon then shows them a livestream on his laptop and explains that there are live auctions to auction off human body parts. Doug watches on in disgust.

Dean calls Donna and Sam to meet them at Manny's Truck Stop Cafe to fill them in. When they begin discussing the fact that monsters are the ones buying the human body parts for food, Doug is confused, and Donna promises to talk to him about it later. Another livestream begins, this time featuring Wendy, which distresses Donna. Donna eventually takes Doug to a back room to give him the "monsters are real" talk, and explain that Sam and Dean are hunters. When Dean gets Agent Clegg to locate where the auctions are being streamed from, he, Donna, Doug, and Sam head there to investigate.

Dean, Donna, Doug, and Marlon explore the building together. Eventually, Doug hangs back with Marlon, and Dean and Donna continue on. With Marlon handcuffed to a gate, Doug watches him, occasionally glancing in the direction of where Donna and Dean had headed further into the building. Marlon teases Doug, telling him that Donna is hot, asking if he and Donna are together, then telling Doug that Donna is out of his league. Marlon then tells Doug that he is a vampire and breaks out of the handcuffs. He crosses the room, knocks Doug's gun out of his hand, and begins beating him. Marlon then throws Doug to the floor, bites his own arm, and feeds Doug his blood.

A little later, Dean and Donna return to find Doug alone on the floor. Dean asks where Marlon is, and Donna rushes to Doug's side, asking where he's hurt. Doug answers that he's not hurt, but not ok either, and a pair of fangs lower over his teeth. Doug keeps repeating that he's hungry before lunging at Donna and trying to bite her. Dean swoops in and injects Doug with dead man's blood, and he passes out.

After Donna gives Doug the vampire cure and Donna and Dean defeat Agent Clegg who had been the mastermind behind the auctions, Doug regains consciousness in Sam and Dean's motel room. Donna asks if he's ok, and Dean asks if he feels like biting any of them, to which Doug says, "Not really". They all conclude that the cure has worked, and Donna takes a pair of handcuffs off Doug's wrists. Doug asks if Wendy is ok, and Donna tells him that she's in hospital and is going to be fine, just like him. Doug is incredulous, reminding Donna that he had just been a vampire. He gets to his feet, and Dean suggests he team up with them now that he knows monsters are real. Doug tells them that he can't live a hunter's life, and that he just wants to go home. Donna takes his hand and tells him that they'll go home. Doug questions what Donna expects them to do next, he tells her that he's a cop because he wants to help people, but he's not prepared to fight monsters. He takes his hand away and heads for the door. Donna pleads with him, apologizing for lying to him, but telling him that she can't give hunting up. Doug tells her that she's a hero, but he doesn't want to be. After apologizing, and telling her that he loves her, Doug leaves.
