Erik was Mandy Duren and Cal Garrigan's landlord. They were behind on their rent, so he sent them eviction papers. Unbeknownst to Mandy and Cal, their dog Lucky was a disguised skinwalker. Lucky was indebted to Mandy, so took it upon himself to protect her by killing anyone who threatened her in any way. Erik was getting into his car one night after getting a pizza from Pizza Hut when Lucky attacked him and tore out his heart, killing him.
