Leann and her husband are glamping in the Wharton State Forest, getting ready to go to sleep. Leann kisses Mitchell goodnight before snuggling up in her sleeping bag and going to sleep. During the night, Mitchell wakes up hanging upside down from a tree in his sleeping bag. He calls out for his wife but gets no response. Hearing noises and noticing a figure stalking through the woods, Mitchell tries to tell it to stay away. However, the figure soon kills Mitchell and eats him through his sleeping bag.

Mitchell's corpse is discovered soon after, but Leann is never found. It is later revealed that the culprit of the murder of Mitchell and disappearance of Leann was a local air-conditioning repairman, Gerald Browder. Gerald had turned into a cannibalistic mottled wretch due to an adverse side-effect of the additive the leviathans were testing on the Turducken Slammer sandwich at Biggerson's.
