Ruby had black eyes (irises and sclerae).<ref name="three02" /> Her true face is not shown, but [[Dean]] is appalled at the sight of it and describes her as "one ''ugly'' broad."<ref name="three16" /> [[Anna]] has a similar visceral reaction, even screaming and retreating at the sight of Ruby.<ref name="four09" /> In stark contrast to her hideous true form, Ruby tended to [[Possession|possess]] beautiful young women to use as her [[meatsuit]]s. She had a great deal of knowledge about witchcraft and [[Spells|spell-work]], having been an extraordinarily talented [[witch]] when she was human.<ref name="three09" /> Her presence could cause failure in automobiles and electrical lights.<ref name="three09" /> Despite this, in general she did not display a great deal of power, appearing to be a lower demon who relied more on her martial arts, witchcraft and knife than her demonic powers. However, [[Sister Jo]] called Ruby a powerful demon, suggesting that she may have been more powerful than she demonstrated.<ref name="fifteen13" />
