15.19 Inherit the Earth
After Dean gets a call from Castiel that he's outside, hurt and needs help, he opens the bunker door to be greeted by Lucifer in the form of Nick. Though Dean closes the door on him, Lucifer appears in the middle of the library and points out that the Winchesters never would've let him in if Lucifer had said who he really was. Lucifer explains that after God wiped out everyone in the world, the Cosmic Entity resurrected Lucifer with orders to find Chuck's Death Book and use it on Chuck. Though Lucifer is not usually good at following orders, he states that they don't want to mess with the Entity whom he calls a total bitch, particularly after Jack blew up all over it and the Entity killed Billie.
Lucifer insists that they're a team again, but Dean flatly refuses him. Lucifer insists that if the Entity resurrected him, it was because "the Winchester charm ain't enough." Lucifer states that he brought them a token of good faith and makes a chained-up Betty appear, explaining that Betty is a Reaper. Confused, Sam demands to know Lucifer's point and ordering them to watch, the archangel kills Betty with an angel blade. Dean is just annoyed with Lucifer's actions, but he explains that Betty is the first Reaper to die since Billie was killed and orders them to watch. Moments later, Betty awakens and Lucifer introduces her as the new Death. Betty headbutts Dean and frees herself before manifesting a new scythe and ring. Betty asks for Chuck's Death Book and comments to Lucifer that the Winchesters are slower than they look when they hesitate and explains that Betty can now read the book for them.
As the group waits for Betty, Lucifer creates a house of cards with playing cards, observed by a silent Jack, before Michael enters. Lucifer knocks over the cards and Michael demands if the Winchesters are seriously thinking about trusting his brother. Dean states that they aren't exactly trusting Lucifer and Lucifer insists that he gets his brother's bitterness since Michael got no better from God than Lucifer despite everything that Michael did for their father. Michael insists that he did what he did because it was the right thing to do and not to gain their father's love. Lucifer tells Michael that God had no love to give, not to him, not to Michael and not to humanity and asks if he sees that now.
