Synopsis
Opening with shaky cam, we see a distressed Eileen running in the woods being chased by an invisibly entity. She is soon mauled by a hell hound, which is shown being controlled by Ketch. Entering a motel room, Sam and Dean search for Mary in her last known location. Concluding from her absence she must be with the British Men of Letters, Dean makes a phone call to Ketch acquiring her whereabouts; Ketch denies knowing her location. Sam then gets a phone call from Sheriff Jodi Mills, in which she informs him of Eileen’s brutal demise. The brothers realize something twisted must be occurring since so many American hunters are being killed; they begin to worry for their mother. In coroner’s office looking at Eileen’s body, Sam and Dean piece together her death was by a hell hound, assuming a demon must be to blame. Their worry grows for Mary and other hunters, becoming angry for not having an answer to the problem. Crowley, in his Hell chamber, directs tumultuous orders to a demon to find Kelly Kline for him. The demon relays Dagon, Kelly’s captor and Prince of Hell, is dead and also Lucifer’s son is almost due, to which Crowley suggests this should only make the demon’s job of finding Kelly easier. An unknown hunter opens his house door, walking in the home to find Mary sitting in his living room chair. Having previously worked together, they begin to shoot the breeze and he goes to grab a beer for her. Once crouched down in front of fridge, Mary sneaks up behind him to attack. He tries to defend himself, yet is ultimately defeated by her knife cutting his throat. Mary is awakened covered in sweat in a British Men of Letters locked room. Lady Bevell waltzes in, and through the proceeding questioning from her to Bevell, Mary realizes she is being brainwashed by the British Men of Letters. Crowley appears in British Men of Letters head office, attempting to update his current negotiations with Dr. Hess. All goes accordingly until she asks him to give up the Winchester brothers, to which he looks conflicted. A demon walks up to Lucifer in his holding room, bounded in chains. He tells Lucifer it won’t be much longer until he is freed. Crowley, back in Hell chamber, is shown talking to Sam over the phone, discussing hell hounds. Crowley then walks into Lucifer’s room, begins to snarkily inform him of Dagon’s death, Kelly being under the protection of Castiel, and Crowley’s goal to raise Lucifer’s child himself. Subsequently, Lucifer’s escape plan escalates. Mary has flashbacks of her murdering hunters. In another room, Dr. Hess shocks Ketch by telling him she knows about his sexual relations with both Mary and Lady Bevell. Outside of a post office, Dean opens a letter written by Kelly to the brothers. From the letter’s contents, Sam and Dean realize the British Men of Letters are to blame for the hell hounds as well as hunter deaths. Back in their bunker, the boys search for bugs planted; finding one beneath the grand mapped table. Acting unaware, Sam and Dean give fake knowledge and a location for the next night in hopes of discovering their enemies. Lucifer is told by demon the spell Crowley put on him is reversing its control back to Lucifer. Back at the British Men of Letters headquarters, Bevell and Ketch discuss an advanced ranking job opening with each other, find out they are both competing for same position. Ketch is told to see Mary, upon entering her room, Mary seems wrecked. She approaches him slowly as she asks him questions about their control over her. Still approaching him, she grabs his gun and fires a shot at wall behind him; he regains control over firearm, and she is left in room sobbing with her knees on the floor. Baby pulls up to the location Sam and Dean convinced British Men of Letters to arrive; Sam is seen entering the building with agents following. Trapping Letters’ members inside, the brothers then stop Lady Bevell via gun point, who was watching from comforts of her car. Crowley enters Lucifer’s holding room and the tables get turned. Lucifer mocks Crowley by making faces when he talks, which escalates to Lucifer standing up and demonstrating his new power over Crowley, making him hop on one foot. Lady Bevell is shown being transported by Sam and Dean, seated in the back of Baby. She tells them their loved ones, including Claire and Jodi, will soon be killed. Now freed, Lucifer throws Crowley around his Hell chamber before stabbing him in the chest with an angel blade. Right before being stabbed however, Crowley stealthily possesses the body of a nearby rat, saving himself from certain death. Sam, Dean and Bevell walk down bunker steps, soon seeing a few British Men of Letters agents awaiting them. A gun fight quickly ensues and the Winchester brothers win, holding Ketch at gun point. Mary appears; the boys assume she would help them, instead she takes a shot at Dean and misses, proving her loyalties are with the British Men of Letters. Ketch betrays Lady Bevell and makes her stay with Sam and Dean. He then informs them of having triggered the bunker locks, shut off the water and is leaving them trapped in the bunker with limited oxygen. Ketch and Mary are shown in a car driving away, Ketch assuring her it will become easier to kill the ones she loves in time. Out of Hell, Lucifer stands atop a heavenly mountain, arms outstretched, smiling.
