Trivia & References

The episode title plays off the movie 2009 movie Splice and the 90s UK girl pop band The Spice Girls. Spice was the tale of two scientists who mix human DNA with animal to create a hybrid which matures rapidly.
This episode was directed by first time director, Supernatural's Production designer Jerry Wanek
Alexia Fast who plays Emma, also appeared in 1.15 The Benders as Missy Bender.
