Synopsis
In Vitsyebsk, Belarus following the Nazi occupation in World War II, the Thule Society established a camp where they carried out terrible magical experiments on the Jewish people in attempts to reanimate the dead. Commander Eckhart devises the experiments and records the results, which eventually lead to him being able to revive dead Nazis, in a red ledger. The Judah Initiative raised a Golem to destroy the camp, but Eckhart uses magic and escapes leaving the red ledger behind.
In the years since the war, Rabbi Bass, a member of the Judah Initiative has moved to America bringing the Golem with him. He continued the work of the Judah Initiative and has been trying to find the red ledger. He attempts to tell his children, and later his grandson about the Thule Society and his work, but they think they are made-up stories, part of his coping with the horrors of the war.
In a college town in Pennsylvania, but he is being followed by Torvald a member of the Thule Society. Torvald eventually causes him to combust after the Rabbi locates the ledger.
Meanwhile, Sam and Dean arrive at the bunker, the secret lair of the Men of Letters. It is incredibly well set up, including an extensive library, which Sam greets with glee. Dean is happy to find out there is good water pressure. Sam finds the story of Rabbi Bass' death, and finds his connection to the Judah Initiative in the bunker files.
At his Bar Mitzvah, Rabbi gives Aaron a book on how to manage a Golem. Unfortunately Aaron uses pages to roll a joint of marijuana.

Dean: Back, where?...What now?
Aaron: I'm sorry. I thought we had a thing back at the quad. You know, a little eye magic? A moment? I saw you here and I figured I'd wait until you were done with your meeting and then we might...
Dean: Yeah, but no. No moment. This is a federal investigation.
Aaron: Everybody loves bacon!
