Archangels are the most powerful high-ranked angels in the celestial hierarchy in Supernatural. Castiel describes them as 'heavens most fearsome weapon'. In 4.18 The Monster At The End Of This Book, it is revealed that archangels are tied to prophets, such as Chuck Shirley. The archangel tied to Chuck first appeared only as a thunderous sound and a blinding white light. Raphael was that Archangel. Archangel's seem to negatively affect the entire area around them when the land. When Castiel and Dean captured Raphael, Dean jokingly asks "Is that the best you can do? Black out a house?" to which Raphael replies "And all of the Eastern Seaboard!". When Lucifer enters the world from Hell he brings massive Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Tsunami's, a brand new disease (Swine Flu) and probably more. When Lucifer appears in 5.04 The End a storm erupts and when he teleports behind Dean there is the sound of thunder.
