I need to be invited, into their houses, I know, I know, the – the red tape'll drive you nuts, but in ten short years, it'll all be worth it. ‘Cause you know what I'm gonna do to your sibling? ==History==
Azazel is was a Yellowyellow-Eyed Demoneyed demon, one of the a Generals of Hell commanding who commanded the demon army,s and kept order in Hell. and seemingly the only one still active by 2007. He was the first supernatural creature and the first demon who appeared in the series. Azazel planned to bring his army of black-eyed demons forth from Hell to unleash upon the world in preparation for the Apocalypse. The demon Casey described him as a "tyrant" who nevertheless held the demon army together; without him, the armydemon's disciplined nature dissolved into chaos and power struggles. He referred to two particular black-eyed demons as his "children" -- Meg and Tom.
Azazel became integral in Lucifer's plans to escape from his prison. Azazel kept faith in Lucifer even after his fellow Princes of Hell gave up on his return, and continued to search for him for years, eventually discovering the site where his prison opened and how to contact him through it. On Lucifer's instructions, he created the Special Children. It is during this mission that he encounters Mary Campbell; after killing her parents and her fiance John Winchester, he makes a deal with her that if she'll allow him entry to her home in ten years time, undisturbed, he'll bring John back to life. On the night Azazel visited Sam's nursery, he killed Mary when she discovered him, and set fire to the Winchester home. These actions caused John Winchester to pursue Azazel for the rest of his life, and Sam and Dean's lives were forever altered.
After years of searching, John had started to pick up of Azazel's trail in 2005. After Dean attempted to contact John, he didn't answer him so he went to get Sam, who was studying to be a lawyer in Stanford and trying to have a normal life. Sam reluctantly agreed to help Dean find John, but they were only able to recover his journal when they looked for him in Jericho, California which led them to hunt in his place while he tries to follow Azazel's trail. They discovered that he was While hunting a Woman in White named Constance Welch when he located Azazel , signs of Azezel's presence began to manifest, prompting him to abandon his hunt and he sent them focus on another hunt in Black Water Ridgetracking Azazel down. In order to push Sam back into the hunting life, Colorado to hunt a Azazel orders wendigoBrady when they finished the hunt in Jericho. Dean left Sam back at Stanford, only to discover that kill Sam's girlfriend fiance, Jessica was murdered , in the exact same way their mother was. In the aftermath of the fire, manner as Mary Winchester after Sam decided to stay returned from hunting with Dean to find their father, hunt down Azazel, and avenge the deaths of their mother and Jessica.
Azazel had would have Meg following follow Sam and Dean while they were looking for their father , who was looking for a way to kill him, . Meg would frequently contacted Azazel through a demon goblet all the whilegiving him updates on her progress. Meg wanted to retrieve the Colt to prevent Sam and Dean and John from using it against Azazel, so she made a deal with John to hand it over in exchange for sparing the lives of all of his friends and hunters associated with him. John arrives at the warehouse in Lincoln, Nebraska with a fake version of the Colt to distract Meg while Sam and Dean remained once again reemerges in Salvation, Iowa when he is thwarted by Sam Winchester while trying to try feed demon blood to Rose Holt and kill Azazel with it while he was about to target another familyher mother. After Sam took a shot, Azazel teleported away while the bullet struck the wall. After Sam and Dean were able to save the Holt family from a fire caused by Azazel, he can be seen through the window watching them through the flames before disappearing. After Meg and Tom had abducted John, Azazel had possessed him while Meg was sent to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to send the Winchesters would go on to Sunrise Apartments in Jefferson City, Missouri. When Sam, Dean and Bobby were able to capture her and receive their father's location, Sam had exorcised her. After Sam and Dean had escaped from the apartment building with "possess John," Tom had ambushed them and attacked Sam repeatedly before he was killed by Dean with the Colt. After hiding Winchester in a secluded cabin, Azazel had revealed himself and started order to mock them about everything he took from them. He revealed that their mom and Jessica were killed because they got in the way of his plans for Sam and all the children like him. He started to rip Dean's chest apart with get his mind saying that it was revenge for Dean killing Tom and their part in exorcising Meg. Before he could kill Dean, John was able to take back control long enough for Sam to grab the Colt. Sam, unable to kill his father, shot him in the leg, paralyzing the demon for a short period of time. John wanted Sam to shoot him to kill Azazel along with him, but Sam couldn't do it, which allowed Azazel to escape. In the aftermath, a demon possessed trucker sent by Azazel, crashes into the Impala with a semi-truck when Sam and Dean were driving away with John. All three of them were taken to the hospital in Shiloh County in the aftermath via an emergency Helicopter. Sam and John were able to survive with a few broken bones, but Dean was in a comatose state hands on the brink of death. John was able to summon Azazel and make a deal to save Dean in exchange for the Colt and the final remaining bullet. Azazel saw inside John's head while he possessed him that he knew the truth about Sam and the Special Children and the endgame Azazel is planning, all the while taunting him about knowing all about his plans and keeping it from his sons. Azazel agreed to save Dean, but however he stated that John still needs to "sweeten the pot" claiming that there is one thing that he wants more than the Colt; driven out of John's Soul. After the reaper, Tessa, appears to Dean trying to convince him to come with her to the afterlife, Azazel possessed her and used her powers to save Dean. After having one last talk with his sons, John gave the Colt to Azazel and allowed him to kill him to fulfill their deal. After John's funeral pyre, Sam and Dean have been working with Ellen, Jo, and Ash in Harvelle's Roadhouse to locate all the Special Children and Azazel in the process. Azazel had been rounding up all the Special Children and taking them all to Cold Oak, South Dakota and forcing them all to battle each other to the death until one is left standing. When Sam was taken to Cold Oak, he encounters some of the Special Children. They attempt to survive and escape before they are all killed, but some of them had been killed until two were left; Sam and Jake Talley. Meanwhile, Azazel had gone to Harvelle's Roadhouse to burn it to the ground along with every hunter inside, including Ash body when he found something important about Azazel's plans. After Bobby and Dean arrived at Cold Oak and found Sam through a vision sent to them by Andy Gallagher, they saw Jake stab Sam shoots John in the back before running away while Bobby chased after him. Azazel met Jake in the woods threatening to kill his family if he doesn't obey his instructions. He sent him to a railroad in southern Wyoming to meet with him. Meanwhile, Dean had made a deal with a crossroads demon outside of Lloyd's Bar in Greenwood, Mississippi to bring Sam back, but they make the deal on the condition that his soul is claimed in one year rather than the standard ten years. They had started putting the pieces from Ash's discovery together with a little help from Ellen, who had gone to get pretzels when the Roadhouse burned to the ground. She recovered everything from a warded safe from the basement after Ash's last call to her led her there, including a map of southern Wyoming with five marks. They discovered that each of the marks represent five abandoned frontier churches built by Samuel Colt in the 1800's along with private railway lines connecting each church into the shape of a pentagram; a 100 square mile devil's trap made with pure iron and an old cowboy cemetery at the epicenter. After arriving at the railway lines, Azazel gave Jake the Colt which is the key to opening a crypt in the cemetery. At first, Jake wanted to kill him, but Azazel convinced him to obey by promising that his family will be treated like royalty if he accomplishes this task and gives into his psychic powers. At Fossil Butte Cemetery, Jake was delayed by Sam, Dean, Bobby, and Ellen. He was shocked when he saw Sam believing that he killed him after he severed his spine when he stabbed him in the back at Cold Oak and he was horrified to see him standing there. Jake was able to use his newfound psychic abilities to make Ellen turn her gun on her own head and threatening that he will make her fire if they don't drop their weapons. After they agreed, Jake used the Colt to open the mausoleum, but Sam shot Jake four times in the back. As Jake was begging Sam not to kill him, Sam shot him three more times before finally killing him, but as Dean retrieves the Colt from the lock which had shifted to the shape of a pentagram, the doors had opened unleashing hundreds of demons upon the world. It was revealed that the crypt in the cemetery was a Devil's Gate; a gateway to Hell. When the gates were opened, the Devil's trap surrounding the gate had been brokenleg, allowing Azazel John to enter the cemetery. As Bobby, Ellen, take temporary control and urge Sam attempted to shut the gates, Dean realized that the last bullet is still in the chamber before he was attacked by Azazel. Sam came to stop Azazel from killing Dean, but he was psychically pushed onto a tree and pinned in place. Azazel started to insult Dean about shoot him bringing Sam back from the dead and hinted that Sam came back from the dead different to mess with his head and stating that "what's dead should stay dead" as well as teasing him about the lengths while he would go to for his family. Azazel was just about to use the Colt to kill Dean, but John's spirit had escaped from Hell via the Devil's Gate and wrestled against Azazel by ripping him out of his meatsuit. John's distraction gave Dean enough time to take the Colt back and aim it at Azazel as he was returning to his vessel after throwing John off of trapped inside him. Azazel stared at Dean in horror as he used the final bullet in the chamber to shoot Azazel in the heart. After one last fearful look at Dean, he started to light up orange as he was dying and his yellow eyes displayed a pair of skulls before finally fading away. After Ellen and Bobby were able to shut the gate before any more demons and spirits can exit the portal, they witnessed John's spirit who had been staring at Azazel's dead body. After having a final moment with his sons, his spirit had finally passed on to the afterlife as Azazel was finally killed, fulfilling their life long hunt for revenge for Mary's death. Despite his death, his demon army was released along with Lilith and Bobby, Ellen, Sam and Dean decided to put a stop to the over 200 demons that escaped.
After Azazel's demon army was unleashed upon the world, Sam and Dean had been able to discover his true plans for opening the Devil's Gate and they were able to thwart the plans to bring forth the Apocalypse with the help of Castiel and Crowley and all the other hunters working on their side.
Ten years after his death, Azazel is revealed to be one of the four Princes of Hell and the only one still following Lucifer's plan as he is described as a fanatic by his brother Ramiel.

4.22 Lucifer Rising
In 1972 at St. Mary's Convent in Ilchester, Maryland, Azazel possesses a priest. Pretending to be the priest, Azazel starts to give mass and then reveals that he has been searching for his father for years and after nearly giving up hope, finally located the door to his prison in the convent. He then slaughters all of the nuns in the convent and is able to speak to Lucifer through the body of one. Azazel tells him that he never lost faith as opposed to his other siblings, calling them "dickless heathens." Lucifer tells him that to free him, Azazel must free Lilith from Hell as she can break the 66 Seals and that he must find a very special child.
Researching the convent after hearing that Lilith is going there to break the last seal, Sam finds out that the priest was arrested for the murders of the nuns. The priest had told everyone that he had been possessed by a demon, who was the one actually responsible for the murders, and that he remembered that the demon's name was Azazel. As it is too much to believe that it is coincidence, Sam and Ruby take Azazel's appearance at the convent in the past as a sign that Lilith will indeed appear there to break the final seal there.
5.20 The Devil You Know
* Azazel is the first demon, and indeed the first supernatural being, seen in the series.
* In the last two episodes of Season 2, Azazel's eyes often had a greenish tint along with visible pupils.
