History

In 1935 Befehlsleiter Gumprecht joined the special security branch service of the SS called the Sicherheitsdienst. In 1937 he attained the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer. Gumprecht became known as "The Butcher" for his hand in the personal torture of prisoners of the Gestpo, including the highest ranking member of the French Resistence, Jean-Claude Boulin, whom Gumprecht tortured to death. It is estimated that Gumprecht was responsible for the deaths of up to 14,000 people, among these atrocities committed by Gumprecht included the deportation of 44 Jewish children from an orphanage in Izieu to Auschwitz in April of 1942.

By 1943 Gumprecht was able to rise the ranks of the SS into Hitler's inner circle. Upon joining the inner circle, Gumprecht was put in charge of Hitler's "otherworldly pursuits," leading him to come in to contact with an artifact described as the "Hand of God."

11.14 The Vessel

In Nazi-Occupied France, Delphine Seydoux meets with her Nazi "lover" Befehlsleiter Gumprecht. He allows Delphine a peek at the object he has come to retrieve -- the "Hand of God." As Delphine gets a look at it, she confirms the Hand of God to be real. Delphine turns around, removing the pin from her hair and stabs Gumprecht through the neck, telling him how much she is enjoying watching him die, giving him regards from the Men of Letters before taking the Hand of God and escaping.

Due to being a member of the Thule Society, Gumprecht was able to come back to life, as his body had not been burned. Gumprecht would give chase to Delphine in a 36B German destroyer ship, where he would order depth charges that cripple the the USS Bluefin. Gumprecht goes on to make the crew a offer, to give up Delphine and the Hand of God and in return he promises preferential POW status. The offer is rejected as Delphine takes hold of the Hand of God and is imbued with its power, obliterating the USS Bluefin and blasting a giant hole through the German destroyer, hitting the fuel tanks and causing it to explode, burn, and sink, killing Befehlsleiter Gumprecht for good.
