The Ghostfacers are a team of fearless ghost hunters who investigate other-worldly sightings and record their hard-hitting adventures for the education and enlightenment of the masses. The Ghostfacers characters were created by Trey Callaway for the season one episode 1.17 Hell House. The Ghostfacers returned as the focus of 3.13 Ghostfacers written by Ben Edlund and also had a brief appearance in 4.17 It's A Terrible Life, a ten episode web series followed in 2010, Harry & Ed made their most recent and possibly final appearance as Ghostfacers in the season nine episode 9.15 #THINMAN.

The Ghostfacers made an appearance at Comic Con 2008 crashing the Supernatural panel. In September 2008 the team starred in a tie-in comic written by Eric Kripke called The Beast with Two Backs. In December 2008, shortly before Christmas, a Ghostfacers video greeting for the holidays appeared on YouTube and various media blogs.

In January 2009 the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) announced that 3.13 Ghostfacers was nominated for a media award in the category of "Outstanding Individual Episode (in a series without a regular LGBT character)." At Comic Con 2009, they did an intro clip to the preview of season five footage from Supernatural.

On October 30 2009, the first Ghostfacers Convention - Hell Hounds 2009 - was run by Rogue Events in York.
