The Men of Letters is a secret organization of scholars who research the supernatural. They undergo a period of teaching in areas of arcane knowledge and rituals and, if they pass, are initiated into the most secret knowledge. In 1958 the entire order was massacred by the demon Abaddon; only three members survived Henry Winchester, Larry Ganem and Cuthbert Sinclair. In 2013 Sam and Dean Winchester receive a key to a Bunker that holds all the knowledge the Men of Letters had accumulated up to 1958.
