Castiel: your people call them "Cupid"...what human myth has mistaken for "Cupid" is actually a lower order of angel. Technically it's a cherub, third-class.

Cupid is weaker than normal angels, such as Castiel and Anna. However he is stronger than humans and possibly lower level-demons; see the following for more details.

  • Cupid can bring couples together; because he is a cherub, he can bring the most opposite of people together
  • Cupid has a high durability level; he was un-phased when Dean punched him in the face, and after doing so, Dean's hand was hit with a throbbing sensation5.14 My Bloody Valentine

Cupid is an angel of Heaven, more specifically a Cherub. Cupid along with his Cherub siblings are obedient to Michael. Cupid seems to be able to manifest instantaneously; when Castiel ordered that he revel himself, he immediately appeared in human form. Whether or not he used a Vessel is unknown.

John and Mary’s marriage was 'top priority' on Heaven's agenda, according to Cupid. Their marriage was orchestrated by a Cherub. And apparently, they could stand one another, but Michael had a cupid interfere, which resulted in their marriage.

5.14 My Bloody Valentine

Dean, Sam and Castiel make their way to a small restaurant. Almost directly after their arrival Castiel notices a supernatural disturbance. Castiel follows the entity into a back room and traps him by bounding him to a fixed location using telekinesis. Castiel then demands that the entity revels itself to Dean and Sam, feeling cornered and scared, it revels itself to Sam, Dean and Castiel. Almost instantly, Castiel recognizes him and he revels him to be a Cupid. Castiel having a strong feeling that Cupid may be responsible for the Valentine's Day massacre, Castiel decides to question Cupid. Cupid revels that he is here on a mission given to him by Heaven. Castiel is still deciding on whether or not Cupid’s telling the truth. Appalled by this Cupid asks Castiel to read his mind to see the truth, Castiel agrees and he finds that Cupid is innocent. Cupid then revels to Dean and Sam the truth on how John and Mary met; Dean was disgusted by Cupid's remarks, so Dean punches him in the face, Dean staggered backwards with a throbbing pain in his hand. Cupid's emotions began to swell up, and he disappeared on the spot.
