5.14 My Bloody Valentine

Dean, Sam and Castiel make their way to a small restaurant. Almost directly after their arrival Castiel notices an angelic presence zooming past him. Castiel follows the angel into a back room and traps him by bounding him to a fixed location by means of Telekinesis. Castiel then demands that the angel revels himself to Dean and Sam, feeling cornered and scared, the angel revels his visage to Sam, Dean and Castiel. Almost instantly, Castiel recognizes him and Castiel revels him to be Cupid, the Cherubim. Castiel having a strong feeling that Cupid may be responsible for the Valentine's Day massacre, Castiel decides to question Cupid. Cupid revels that he is here on a mission given to him by Heaven. Castiel is still deciding on whether or not Cupid’s telling the truth. Appalled by this Cupid asks Castiel to read his mind to see the truth, Castiel agrees and he finds that Cupid is innocent. Cupid then revels to Dean and Sam the truth on how John and Mary met; Dean was disgusted by Cupid's remarks, so Dean punches him in the face, Dean staggered backwards with a throbbing pain in his hand. Cupid's emotions began to swell up, and he disappeared on the spot.

Cherubim in Lore

A cherub is a form of angel mentioned several times in the Bible. In modern English the word is usually used for what are strictly putti, baby or toddler angels in art. This article is concerned with the original sense of the word.

Cherubs are described as winged beings. The biblical prophet Ezekiel describes the cherubim as a tetrad of living creatures, each having four faces: of a lion, an ox, an eagle, and a man. They are said to have the stature and hands of a man, the feet of a calf, and four wings. Two of the wings extended upward, meeting above and sustaining the throne of God; while the other two stretched downward and covered the creatures themselves.
