A year ago, Deputy Atkins pulled over Samuel Campbell and Sam Winchester, who he knew as FBI agents, and asked them where Sheriff Roy Dobbs was. When he noticed that Sam was bleeding from a deep wound on his arm, he attempted to arrest them. Sam laughed at him and then beat him unconscious. Samuel and Sam left Atkins lying in the road and drove out of town.
When Sam returns to Bristol, he goes to question the police about the disappearances. Atkins, now the Sheriff, sees him and immediately arrests him. He interrogates Sam in his jail cell, suspecting Sam of kidnapping the missing women in town along with being involved in the disappearance of Sheriff Roy Dobbs.
