Dreamwidth logo

Dreamwidth is a website that hosts journals, and is based on the code for Livejournal, but with a number of enhancements. Its founder are former LJ employees, and the development of the new site was in part prompted by the events of the LJ Strikethrough 2007.

Dreamwidth is similar to Livejournal in having both individual journals, or blogs, and communities. It is supportive of fandom. It went into open beta testing in April 2009.

While some Supernatural fans have moved from LJ to Dreamwidth, as of May 2011 there has not developed a significant Supernatural fannish presence on Dreamwidth. Those fans who have moved tend to continue to "crosspost" from Dreamwidth to LJ.
