Duane Tanner is possessed by a demon involved in the localized outbreak of the Croatoan Virus. He is sent to determine Sam's immunity to the virus, and to eliminate all trace of the incident once it has passed. Duane uses the Goblet of Blood to communicate with what is assumed to be The Yellow-Eyed Demon, much as Meg did in 1.11 Scarecrow.
