• 3.15 Time Is on My Side - Sam almost puts Dean off of enjoying his burger talking about bile, but Dean decides to eat it anyway, saying, "Oh baby, I can't stay mad at you" to the burger.

• 4.15 Death Takes a Holiday - Dean focuses on eating his burger after the boys' encounter with the siren in the previous episode (4.14 Sex and Violence).

• 4.18 The Monster at the End of This Book - Dean is not allowed to eat a bacon cheeseburger, as it's 'opposites day.' He orders a "tofu veggie burger", but the waitress accidentally gives him the bacon cheeseburger and then takes it away from Dean after he takes a bite.

• 12.18 The Memory Remains - After paying a visit to the meat plant, Dean orders a burger at the cafe. Sam questions how he could eat after seeing the butchered animal remains, but Dean acknowledges that "Burger's beef. Bacon's pig. Soylent Green's people. But this... This is Heaven." before taking a bite from his burger.

• 14.11 Damaged Goods - Before seeing Mary, Dean visits with Donna Hanscum who takes him to get the "best burger in Minnesota," a claim Dean corrects as being the best burger in the world.

Sam and Salad

Sammy loves his salad, often choosing that over a burger or other fast food on the menu, much to Dean's amusement/horror.

The most famous Sammy salad moment is during 5.12 Swap Meat when Sam orders a Health Quake Salad shake, leading to the line "oh, you shake it up, baby" from Dean.

Fandom had decided Sam loved salad long before it had been established on the show.

• 7.09 How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters Sam makes the smart choice of the Sidewinder Soup and Salad combo; the Turducken Slammer Dean orders has been engineered by the Leviathans.

• 13.17 The Thing - Sam orders and eats a kale salad at the diner, but it was poisoned by the legacy Marco Avila.

• 15.04 Atomic Monsters - We find out that Sam does not eat bacon. Dean pretends to have cooked him veggie bacon, although to Sam's disgust it turns out to be regular bacon.

Dean eats... a lot.

• 1.14 Nightmare - Priest Dean eating up the cocktail sausages.

• 1.19 Provenance - Dean stuffing his face with mini-quiches at the auction.

• 2.15 Tall Tales - Dean sitting on Sam's bed eating something messy (chili cheese fries?) from a disposable plate, annoying Sam. Dean eating from a bowl of toffee/nuts until his cheeks are full up like a chipmunks, annoying Sam. Also the classic cocktail scene where when Dean describes what he is drinking he replies "I don't know, man, I think they're called purple nurples?"

• 2.18 Hollywood Babylon - Dean eating on set; first the miniature Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, which he describes as "delicious!" Then the plate of taquitos that he is munching his way through while talking to Sam, offering them to Sam by saying "Taquito? They're wonderful."

• 3.06 Red Sky at Morning - Dean pops a whole appetizer in his mouth after Bela pretends to faint.

• 3.11 Mystery Spot - The famous line from Dean "Hey! Tuesday, Pig n a Poke!" Plus Dean manages to die choking on a sausage and eating a "funny" tasting taco.

• 4.05 Monster Movie - Dean suddenly yells "Oh big pretzel!!" then orders a big pretzel for himself and Sam.

• 6.08 All Dogs Go to Heaven - Dean eating a plate of ribs from Fat Mack's Rib Shack.

• 7.09 How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters - Dean and the Turducken sandwich; first it gets him stoned and then it gets angry, spurting out grey goo and leading to the line from Dean: "I think you pissed off my sandwich."

• 12.03 The Foundry - Dean introduces Mary to modern jerky flavors "We got your teriyaki jerky, we got your sriracha, and we got your chili lime", declaring chili lime his favorite.

• 14.06 Optimism - Dean prepares himself a meal of cold spaghetti inside a flour tortilla.

• 14.11 Damaged Goods - Before heading to Donna's cabin Dean meets with Donna and has what he claims as the best burger in the world. Later that night, Dean enjoys a big plate of Winchester Surprise (with extra cheese) with Mary.

• 1.18 Something Wicked - Young Dean cooks young Sam dinner and Sam complains, "I'm sick of scabetti-ohs." Sam then asks for Lucky Charms instead, but there is only enough left for one person. Dean gives in and gives them to Sam, who in turn offers Dean the toy.

• 6.01 Exile on Main St. - Dean living the family life, BBQ-ing and making breakfast for Ben.

• 8.14 Trial and Error - Dean makes homemade burgers for Sam and himself, now that he has a kitchen in the Bunker. Later, Dean grills steak at the Cassidy estate, which impresses Ellie.

• 8.21 The Great Escapist - Dean makes Sam "John Winchester's famous cure-all kitchen sink stew."

• 10.11 There's No Place Like Home - Dean makes Sam and himself egg-white omelettes for breakfast.

• 10.23 Brother's Keeper - As an offering to Death, Dean cooks a delicious Mexican spread including taquitos, queso, and churros - in exchange for Death killing him.

• 14.11 Damaged Goods - Dean regales Mary with a story of how he attempted to make Winchester Surprise for Sam as a child. Using bologna and cheese, he cooked them on a hot plate which stunk up the motel room and did not even taste right in the end.

• 15.14 Last Holiday - Dean bakes a birthday cake for Jack.

Mary and food

Mary: All I did was point at some stuff on a take-out menu. I would've cooked, but I, uh...don't. Dean: Well, now, wait. Your meat loaf was amazing. Mary: Came from the Piggly Wiggly. Sorry to burst your bubble. – Mary and Dean Winchester, 12.02 Mamma Mia

• 12.02 Mamma Mia - Mary buys a bucket of Sandy's Chicken and pie for her and the boys to eat. She admits she never cooked, and even Dean's favorite meatloaf was from the "Piggly Wiggly."

• 12.03 The Foundry - Dean introduces Mary to modern jerky flavors, "We got your teriyaki jerky, we got your sriracha, and we got your chili lime." Mary says she finds chili lime "artificial and tingly."

• 14.11 Damaged Goods - While visiting Mary at Donna's cabin, Dean asks his mother to make him "Winchester Surprise." Mary, surprised that Dean remembers the meal, tells him she can't believe she fed him and John something so greasy and basically a "heart attack on a plate." She of course agrees to cook it for Dean, who requests it be made with extra cheese.

• 14.13 Lebanon - Mary once again prepared Winchester Surprise, this time for John, Dean, and Sam. The family sits together for the first time ever and has a family dinner.

According to the writer Davy Perez, the ingredients to the "Winchester Surprise" were named in the episode, but edited out. Samantha Smith tweeted the recipe to "Winchester Surprise" as:

Castiel and food

The angelic experience of eating and tasting food, and consuming alcohol, is very different from the human one.

• 5.14 My Bloody Valentine - Castiel's vessel, Jimmy, gets hungry for burgers after being influenced by the Horseman Famine.

Dean: Are you serious?

Castiel: These make me... very happy.

Dean: How many is that?

Castiel: I lost count. It's in the low hundreds.

(Dean looks shocked and whistles.)

• 8.21 The Great Escapist - Castiel orders the Smart Heart Beer-Battered Tempura Tempters.

• 9.11 First Born - "I miss you PB&J." Castiel laments that as a human he loved PB&J sandwiches (with jelly, not jam), but as an angel he can taste every molecule, making the experience of eating less enjoyable.

• 10.21 Dark Dynasty - Castiel tells Rowena and Charlie that he grew very fond of pork rinds when he was human.

Death and food

Death (one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse) has a fondness for fast food, so much so that Dean even tries to placate him with some fried pickle chips when they bind him, and gives him an assortment of handmade Mexican food as an offering in exchange for killing him.

• 5.21 Two Minutes to Midnight - Dean and Death eating pizza in a Chicago pizzeria.

• 6.11 Appointment in Samarra - Death and Dean share a hot dog, "from a little stand in Los Angeles known for their bacon dogs."

• 7.01 Meet the New Boss - Dean giving Death the fried pickle chips, which Death enjoys.

• 9.01 I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here - Dean mentions to Death that he would have brought cronuts, but time was short.

• 10.23 Brother's Keeper - As an offering to Death, Dean cooks a Mexican spread, with the bad kinds of fat, in exchange for Death killing him.

Other memorable eating moments

• 6.04 Weekend at Bobby's - Bobby and his ruined attempts to sit down and enjoy the homemade peach cobbler that he has been given.

• 7.22 There Will Be Blood - Dean is devastated to learn that the modified corn syrup the leviathan are using to make humans docile and obese is in nearly all his favorite foods, including pie. Sam suggests bananas and water as an alternative.

• 7.06 Slash Fiction - When Sam and Dean pull up at a gas station, Sam asks if dean would like "the usual" and Dean replies "Rhymes with sing-songs." Sam can be seen buying a packet of a treat called "Bing Bongs" This is a play on the cakes known as Ding Dongs. An ad for Ding Dongs is later seen on a bus in 9.02 Devil May Care.

• 12.03 The Foundry - A young hipster couple rave about the avocado toast topped with a quail egg they have just eaten.

• 12.06 Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox - Sam and Dean join Jody for Netflix and pizza.

• 14.04 Mint Condition - Dean can be seen eating a bag of Let's Potato Chips in the hospital. Let's Potato Chips is a fictional brand that has appeared in such shows as Community, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Vampire Diaries, among many others.

• 14.06 Optimism - Jack reveals to Dean how his taste buds have changed since losing his powers, giving that as the reason he is adding so much sugar to his coffee, because he can't get the taste right anymore.

• 15.08 Our Father, Who Aren't in Heaven - After escaping from Hell, Adam Milligan enjoys a cheeseburger, fries, and pizza for the first time in ten years even though he no longer needs to eat. His meal is interrupted by the arrival of Lilith, causing Michael to take control. After killing Lilith, Michael pushes the food away due to Lilith sampling the icing. This also implies that Adam's love for cake mirrors Dean's love of pie.

Monster Munch

• Changeling - Feed on a human's synovial fluid. (Synovial fluid is a viscous, non-Newtonian fluid found in the cavities of synovial joints.)
• Crocotta - Consume the souls/spirits of their victims.
• Djinn - Leaves human victims in a coma-like state while they feed on their blood over a long period of time.
• Fairies - They love cream, which, like alcohol, intoxicates them.
• Ghouls - Creatures that traditionally feed on the dead, except for the ones Dean and Sam encounter.
• Gorgon - Serpent creatures / demigods that consume various parts of a human. Gorgons have a particular liking to human eyeballs, which when consumed allow them to glimpse into the future.
• Kitsune - Eat pituitary glands of humans. They can survive on dead tissue unless they are sick, then they need fresh to get better.
• Lamia - Consume human hearts.
• Leviathan - Eat anything and everything. Can consume themselves in an act known as bibbing.
• Nachzehrer - A breed of vampiric ghoul; certain types prefer to feed on the flesh of their victims, while others only consume their blood.
• Okami - They hunt and feed on humans and usually develop a preference for a certain type of human - for example, single, white females while they sleep.
• Pishtaco - Parasitic monsters that feed on the fat of their victims.
• Rawhead - Eat children.
• Rugaru - The rugaru is the result of a genetic mutation that, when expressed, causes the affected human to experience a murderous, cannibalistic hunger. In 4.04 Metamorphosis the term "long pig" becomes Dean's word of the day.
• Shtriga - Feeds on the life force (Spiritus Vitae) of others, specifically children, to extend its life.
• Soul Eater - Steal victims souls, and feed off them for years until the spirit withers away.
• Vampires - Mainly human blood, although can subsist on animal blood. Lenore leads a nest which she insists must not feed on humans; the effort ultimately fails. When Benny returns from Purgatory he refuses to kill humans for food and uses blood from blood bank supplies.
• Vetala - Vetala are creatures that sedate their victims with venom and then feed on their blood over a number of days.
• Werewolves - Human or animal hearts.
• Wendigo - Eats people (cannibalism).
• Wraith - Human brains, preferably soaked in soaked in dopamine and adrenaline.
