Humans are the dominant species of Earth, gifted the soul by God some point after coming into being. Humans are considered God's greatest creation, however their favor would draw the ire of Lucifer, who saw them as flawed and murderous things. The view of humanity among the rest of the Host of Heaven varied, some like Castiel saw humans as works of art, while others like Uriel saw them as lower beings, referring to them as "mud monkeys" and "savages" and comparing them plumbing on two legs, beliefs Castiel warned were close to blasphemy.

Characteristics== Humans are carbon based creatures that vary in size, shape, gender and race. Humans are typically mortal beings, but in certain cases, through the use of witchcraft or alchemy, a human can extend their life past their natural lifespan. These humans are also known as witches, as witches they are able to use magic through one of three means: Firstly they can gain their powers through an act known as "borrowing" from demons in exchange for their souls. Secondly, through intense studying and practice and human can become a witch. Thirdly, certain humans are born with natural ability for magic.  Humans are also susceptible to forced possession from demons or ghosts, unless a human has some form of protection, such as an anti-possession symbol on their bodies, they cannot prevent possession. However, certain humans have been known to wrestle control, however briefly from the controlling entity, such as Bobby Singer. Angels, meanwhile require consent from humans to possess them, and certain bloodlines are important to angels, and through cherubs, these bloodlines continue, ensuring suitable vessels continue to be available.
