History
Rachel was Castiel's lieutenant in the war to win control of Heaven against Raphael. She referred to herself as Castiel's friend. She was later killed by Castiel, after confronting him about the rumors of him working with Crowley.

When Dean summons Castiel to help send him and Sam back to 1861, Rachel appears instead, stating that Castiel is busy with the war in Heaven. Irritated, Dean begins antagonizing Rachel, and the two argue until Castiel appears, ordering Rachel away.
Later, Rachel summons Castiel to a deserted warehouse, demanding to know whether the rumors about his "dirty little secret" are true. He intimates that it is, but insists that whatever he is doing is necessary to win the war against Raphael. In flashback, we see Rachel greet Castiel after the Apocalypse was averted. She, and the other angels, look to him for leadership, despite Castiel insisting that they now all have free will. She suggests that God bought Castiel back for a reason.
