Berens and actor Curtis Armstrong

Robert Berens joined the Supernatural writing team in season nine, and served as an executive story editor and supervising producer before being promoted to co-executive producer in season 13. He had previously worked on the animated series Kappa Mikey before being hired for the CW series Ringer, which was created by former Supernatural writers/co-executive producers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder.

In 2017/18 Berens developed the Wayward Sisters series, which aired an embedded pilot in Supernatural's 13th season with 13.10 Wayward Sisters.

In 2019, Berens joined Jeremy Carver's adaptation of Doom Patrol for the DC Universe streaming service, in conjunction to his duties on Supernatural.
