History
Sam has been driving a 2006 SRT8 Dodge Charger during the year that passed by between Season 5 and Season 6. He had everything custom made the way he likes it. It was totaled in 6.03 The Third Man after Castiel and another angel landed on top of it..
Episodes
In 6.01 Exile on Main St., Sam drives a black 2006 SRT8 Dodge Charger. When Dean offers him the Impala "because she should be hunting" Sam refuses, saying he has his car fitted out how he likes it.
The Charger has Illinois plates, I4Z 0892.
Dean and Sam seem to see their cars as in competition with each other, as seen in 6.03 The Third Man:
Dean: Still driving the plastic piece of crap, huh?
Sam: What's your mileage, again?
Dean: Shut up.
Sam: Were you racing me?
Dean: No. I was kicking your ass.
Sam: Very mature.
The Charger was destroyed after Castiel and one of Raphael's angels fell out of a window during a fight and landed on it in 6.03 The Third Man After this, Sam returned to traveling with Dean in the Impala.
(Sam and Dean see that Castiel and Raphael's soldier landed on top of it from the balcony.)
Sam: My car.
Dean: Okay. Silver lining.
(Sam looks annoyingly at Dean.)
It was seen again in one piece in 12.14 The Raid with Michigan plates: WP2 483 when Sam drove to the British Men of Letters compound in Lansing, Michigan and met with Mary. It tells us that Sam was able to fix the car at some point and keep it in storage.
Trivia
The car itself was eventually bought by 1st AD Johnny MacCarthy in November 2011. Source.
