During an angelic fight with [[Rachel]], Castiel gets severely wounded and is drained of a lot of his power when he is impaled with an [[Angel Sword|Angel killing sword]], making it impossible for him to retrieve Dean and Sam from the past. He tells Bobby that th human soul is pure energy, and if he touches Bobby's soul he might be able to draw on that energy to revitalise himself. Before her death [[Eve]] explains that her actions in rising from [[Purgatory]], and mobilising all the supernatural beings is in reaction to [[Crowley]] capturing and torturing 'her children'.
