The Winchesters use the "soul catcher" (as Dean newly dubs it) to reduce the numbers of the [[Hell Ghosts]], which are trying to break through the spell barrier created by [[Belphegor]]. [[Ketch]] helps Rowena reduce the amount of work by electrocuting the contents of the beaker, allowing her to skip the following two steps. Using the soul catcher, Rowena captures hundreds of ghosts, including [[Francis Tumblety]] and [[John Wayne Gacy]]. However, after seeing more souls emerging, Rowena comments that the soul catcher won't do any good.

After [[Eileen Leahy]]'s [[ghost]] shows up, Dean suggests creating a new soul catcher to contain her as they can't send Eileen to [[Heaven]] and Eileen knows she will eventually go insane as a ghost. Sam travels to [[Rowena's Flat]] to find the information and ingredients he needs to create a new soul catcher for Eileen, but instead finds a [[resurrection]] spell Rowena created that could bring Eileen back. After defeating a family of witches after Rowena's magical stash, Sam uses the resurrection spell to bring Eileen back to life, eliminating the need for the soul catcher.
