I might have spoted another ref from Sneakers[1]. I think Charlie's hacking of the Republican party's funds is a reference to the movie. In said movie, a hacker détourne (moves? diverts?) money to a few other associations, including Greenpeace. Charlie diverts money to an organisation for the environment.
