The Christmas Cottage focuses on American painter Thomas Kinkade and the inspiration behind his painting The Christmas Cottage. Jared Padalecki stars as Thomas Kinkade, and Peter O'Toole co-stars as his mentor. It was announced as being the first in a three picture series to be produced by Lionsgate and Kinkade.
The movie was shot around Vancouver and Whistler in Canada from May to July 2007. It was scheduled for release on December 14, 2007.
