Weapons Box, screencapped from the Official Site

This page attempts to document information about the contents of the Winchester arsenal. Feel free to create entries for individual weapons and then link to here, or simply post the information here under a subheading. The list below is an attempt to start to document - please add information about each item if you have it!

Firearms

The Colt

Colt Patterson .31 or .36 caliber. This was the first model revolver Samuel Colt ever made, circa 1836-1847. Originally made as strictly percussion/cap-n-ball, this one has been converted to take metal cartridges. The Colt was created under special circumstances and originally only had thirteen bullets, once the original thirteen were used new ammunition was made by Bobby Singer with the help of the demon Ruby's help in 3.04 Sin City. After 5.10 Abandon All Hope... the Colt would go missing, later to be revealed in the possession of the Prince of Hell Ramiel in 12.12 Stuck in the Middle (With You), who received it as a gift from Crowley soon after Lucifer's defeat. Mary Winchester would go on to recover the Colt for the British Men of Letters, with whom it currently resides.

Shotguns

Ithaca 37 (Sawed Off)

Remington Model 870 (Sawed Off)

  • 1.18 Something Wicked - John leaves this gun for a young Dean as protection while he goes and hunts a shtriga. Dean would end up using wielding it against the shtriga as it tried to feed on young Sam.
  • 1.21 Salvation - Can be seen in the weapons compartment in John's truck.

Stoeger Coach Gun (12 Gauge)

  • 1.07 Hook Man - Sam wields this 12 gauge while he and Dean are out hunting for a ghost, only to be confronted by an armed police officer.

Side by Side Shotgun (Sawed Off)

Rifles

Pistols

    • Dean sometimes uses a Colt M1911A1 with an engraved slide and ivory grips. It is .45 caliber (.45 ACP), standard with 7-round magazines. Although there are several gun manufacturers that make replica GI .45s, it was probably made by Colt. This particular gun features ornate engraving, and is either stainless steel or nickle-plated, features found only on civilian models. This gun may have previously been owned by John Winchester (the USMC used them from 1911 until the Beretta M9 entered service in 1990) and/or was gifted to Dean at some point from John.

Used in the following episodes:

Used also by Sam in other episodes of Season 2.

    • Beretta Model 92 9mm, standard with 15-round magazine. All black, very close to stainless Taurus Model 92.

(Need citations for S2 episodes used)

    • unknown handgun #3, dark finish, possibly another M1911A1 (unknown manufacturer probably Springfield)
    1. 1.22 Devil's Trap (Dean)
    • Desert Eagle - It's silver. Most likely with a black grip as that is standard. Used when going to the hospital with the old woman. Used in the following episodes:
    1. 1.18 Something Wicked (Dean)
    • Smith & Wesson Model 4006 (11-round capacity), or maybe Model 3906, which carries 9 - Stainless with black rubber grip. The caliber could be 9mm, or it could be .40 or .45 caliber.

(Need citations for episode(s) used.)

Knives and Other Blades

There are at least three machetes in the trunk of the Impala, as well as several smaller knives. Both boys also carry pocketknives. Dean sharpens his pocketknife using a whetstone.

The first time we see Ruby in a fight, she uses a large knife that is able to kill other demons. Bobby had never heard of this weapon before, and it is unclear where Ruby got it from. When Ruby tried to kill Tammi in a fight, she lost the knife and Dean used it. [Question: when was the last known appearance of Ruby's knife?]

  • Ceremonial Dagger
  • Battleaxe
  • Shuriken (Star Knife)
  • Spearhead

  • Tasers
    1. 1.12 Faith. In the episode Faith, we see the boys using tasers to stop the creature. The taser fires small dart-like electrodes that are attached to the gun with wires. An electric current is then sent down the wires. Like all electricity, the charge from the taser is easily conducted in water, which is what damaged Dean's heart.
