For More Direct Info see Angel Lore:

  • Zachariah is an Angel of high rank, later revealed to be a Seraph.
  • It has been proven on many occasions that Zachariah likes to teach lessons, particularly towards Dean
  • Zachariah is one of the many angels who said that either "God has left the building", or according to Raphael in which he said "god is dead."

It has not been stated who Zachariah's Vessel is.

  • For a short while Zachariah went by the alternate name Mr. Adler.
  • Zachariah is an angel who is Castiel's superior.
  • Zachariah is one of the few known angels that are not yet cut-off from Heaven. However, it has been illustrated many times that Zachariah seems to be taking his own course of action. Evidence that supports this statement is listed below:
  • He was willing to torture both Dean and Sam until Dean consented to Michael. However Zachariah was unsuccessful, Cass showed up and he made Zachariah heal the boys and he than told him to go.
  • He was willing to take Dean Hostage in order to teach him a "lesson". Cass teleported Dean to safety before Zachariah could take him prisoner.
  • He also put together a group of angels all of which wanted the 66 Seals broken; this would ultimately result in Lucifer being freed from Hell. Although it was not proven, it was implied that Zachariah went against the official plan that the Host of Heaven had put together, this plan involved the angels preventing the 66 Seals from being broken. Castiel briefly described this plan to Dean in 4.02 Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester. He told Dean that the breaking of the Seals was a sign that Demons were trying to break the 66 Seals, this would ultimately result the Fallen angel's release from Hell. Cass then reveled to Dean the name of the Fallen Angel, which was Lucifer. He also told Dean that Lucifer could only be freed if 66 out of the 600 Seals were broken.

It wasn't actually stated in the episode, however it was highly implied.

Zachariah reveals to Dean their True plan in 4.22 Lucifer Rising. The plan was: Zachariah along with many other angels intended for the Apocalypse to come-to-pass.

Later, as Castiel tries to help Dean escape to stop Sam from breaking the final seal by killing Lilith, Zachariah arrives to stop him, but Castiel uses a sigil drawn in his own blood to send Zachariah away.

5.01 Sympathy For The Devil

5.04 The End

With Sam and Dean hidden by the Enochian Sigils engraved on their ribs by Castiel, Zachariah employs fringe Christian groups to track down Dean and sends him to 2014, to see the consequences of his refusal to become Michael's vessel. It is not clear whether this future is "true" or in some way altered by Zachariah in an effort to influence Dean's decision. He sees the devastation wrought by the Croatoan virus, the effect of the Apocalypse on himself, Castiel and others, and most importantly finds that Sam has consented to be Lucifer's vessel. Following a disastrous encounter between Future!Dean and Lucifer, Zachariah brings Dean back to 2009.
